SMS undertook the removal of the gantry with its solar panels, the refurbishment of the remaining stainless guard rail, the removal of all the extraneous cabling and even the sale of the redundant solar panels, making the boat literally 100’s of kilos lighter. A new high power alternator was installed to ensure the large battery bank was charged as quickly as possible.

The new owner of a Hallberg Rassy asked us to look after his acquisition while he was working abroad. The teak deck was rough and there was a very large and very heavy gantry on the aft deck carrying many solar panels. The survey highlighted the weight and the windage of the structure and the owner decided he wanted none of it and would instead install a larger alternator.
The teak deck was found to be in better condition that at first believed and so was instead re plugged and re caulked producing a fine result that came in well under budget – always a good result!
